Shaw wrote more than sixty plays that blended sharp wit, social criticism, and intellectual debate, tackling issues such as class, politics, marriage, and morality. His most famous works include Pygmalion, Man and Superman, and Saint Joan. A committed social thinker and advocate of change, Shaw was also a prominent member of the Fabian Society, promoting socialism through persuasive writing and public lectures. In 1925 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for work marked by idealism, humanity, and stimulating satire.
